Leather is a great product displaying natural beauty and character. A well maintained leather suite will look, and perform to the best of its ability. Because of the numerous different finishes of leather, knowledge of the product and its tolerances prior to any work is essential. We have undertaken numerous courses, mainly internationally, over the past 8 years and have gained the necessary experience to work with confidence on most suites.
 In addition to training, another important component in leather care is the products we use. While there are good products readily available throughout New Zealand, we import the high quality Italian Fenice® Range. This enables us to achieve a finish on the leather as close as possible to the original.
This photo shows the result of restorative cleaning on the left hand side. After cleaning and any corrective measures, we apply a rich conditioning cream to the leather which helps restore original luster and suppleness to the leather again.
Unfortunately, leather will invariably get damaged at some stage. Take this job where a bottle of gold nail polish was accidentally spilt on this raw Antelope hide covered suite. Notice the natural scar in the bottom right hand corners of both photos. This client had replacement cover for this situation but we were able to restore it 100%.
 
Another common problem is the cat scratches. These can be ‘camouflaged’ fairly well on most finished leathers. Aniline and Nubuck leathers are a bit more difficult and in the odd case may not even be repairable. We’ll only be able to advise after an initial inspection.
We are also able to repair most minor cuts, scratches and abrasions. We repair the damage, re colour and re finish the leather. Finished results can vary depending on the location of the damage on the suite, the severity of the problem and overall condition of the leather. |
