Carpet Cleaning Palmerston North

Carpet patches & repairs.

For specialist carpet repairs, including fault rectification, re tufting, bonded inserts and complaint investigation, please refer to Middleton Carpet Services.

Middleton Carpet services offer a specialist carpet patching and repair service, often without uplifting the carpet. The common situations are cuts, pulled threads, small burns, rotten carpet under pot plants, cat scratches and much more. We do re tufting, bonded inserts and a combination of both depending on each situation and what will give the best finish.

Pull Threads and Cat Scratches. The clients had accidently had their cat locked in a room. They lodged a claim with their insurer for repairs or replacement. We successfully repaired and both the clients and the insurer were happy. The cost for this type of work is extremely ecomonical and in this case was similar to the clients excess so the claim was withdrawn and they didn't loose their no claims bonus.

Burns and Cuts. Small problem areas can be re tufted but for those problems that are bigger we can do a bonded insert, if suitable donor carpet is available. Often there are off cuts or mats. Mats are ideal as they already have some fade and wear similar to the carpet depending on the location of the problem. These type of patches and repairs will work best on newer carpets but even older ones, while not as eye pleasing as a repair on newer carpet, are still the better option when compared to the problem.

This job was a 6 month old installation with a small burn from a spark out of the fire. We did a patch repair using carpet from a mat that was near by with equal fade and wear. The result? You had to know where and what to look to be able to see it.

Pot Plants and Rotten Carpet. One job we completed was for a private customer without insurance. She had a combination of an over watered pot plant and a pumpkin from an old Halloween decoration that exploded. While the carpet repair is obvious as you enter the hallway, its way better visually than the original problem. The donor carpet is in the foreground of the first photo showing colour and wear differences.

Bleach Marks. Another option for wool and nylon carpets that have bleach marks on them is for us to spot dye. If it’s only a couple of threads, its often easier to re tuft but for more than that, we can neutralize the bleach and re dye the spot. This is often close to the original colour but may not be 100%. The smaller the spot, the easier it is to get it right.

This job was a genuine sisal rug that had a bleach mark from the client cleaning up a mess. We successfully cleaned the rug and then re dyed the sisal. This client had replacement cover but was very happy with the finished result.

When you consider the cost of replacement, the loss of your no claims bonus if you claim insurance, the possibility that only the affected room is replaced and not the entire carpet in other areas etc, these can be very viable options to consider.

We are able to complete the majority of the patching and repairs that we do without lifting the carpet. However, if it becomes necessary or advantageous to do so, we have all the equipment necessary to uplift, repair, rejoin and reinstall the carpet to a professional finish. We also replace old naplok bars, reattach loose or install new smoothedge to concrete and timber floors, re install after cable installations etc.

Contact us for an obligation-free inspection and we’ll provide you with an honest report regarding the best solution and possible outcome.
